The English Tudor building located at the corner of Lawn and Chestnut (just west of the Thomas Ford Library) houses a ballroom, stage, and kitchen on the main floor, four bowling alleys in the basement, and a meeting room and lounge with bar and fireplace on the second floor. The spirit of friendship, relaxation, and fun prevails as the Club welcomes its members and guests to enjoy the many parties, TGIFs, bowling, golf, and kids' and special events throughout the year. Club rentals are an added benefit for members. The Club welcomes members and their guests to some of the finest parties anywhere: New Year's Eve, St. Pat's, Pig Roasts, Oktoberfest, Ladies' Night, Men's Night, Breakfast with Santa, TGIFs, Kids' parties, and many more. Bowling leagues are available for men, women, and couples, along with youth and open bowling for members. Party! Party! Party!Several major adult parties are planned throughout the year. Most parties begin with cocktails (sometimes self-serve, but always open bar) and casual get-to-know-you conversation, followed by wonderful catered foods. Next comes the real party when great live music takes the stage and jams the dance floor for the rest of the night. Beyond that, it's up to the party committee - creative themes, decor, funny skits, party drinks - whatever fits! Party prices range from $25 to $60 per person. Where else can you go for dinner, live music, dancing, unlimited drinks and fun, for such a low price? TGIFs !To complement the major adult parties, the Village Club throws a TGIF party each month. The party's extravagence varies by the committee's creativity. Some parties may be simple get-togethers with friends in the upstairs lounge. Still others may host fun card games, Bunko competitions, casino nights, martini nights, sports events, and more. New to 2005, we have combined our TGIFs with Kids' Bowling, so the whole family can join in the fun. The intent is to give members a chance to relax, meet new friends, and be thankful for Fridays! Typically, TGIFs begin at 7:00pm and cost around $10 per person, which includes an open bar and hors d'oeuvres. Strike Up the Lanes!Another pleasant surprise about the Village Club is that the basement houses a four-lane bowling alley. Generally, leagues run from mid-September through April. Adult bowling attractes all ability levels, so don't worry about it! It's BYOB and BYOSnacks, with "fun" being the operative word. Friday night is Couples Bowling, a fun, informal league. Schedules are sent out at the beginning of the season, with each two-couple team bowling about six times through March. Youth bowling is available on Saturday afternoons, from late-Fall through Spring. Kids of all ages (toddlers to teens) can bowl, play pool, and devour the supplied snacks and drinks. There's even bumber bowling for the youngsters. Dads and Moms enjoy the festivities while watching "key" college and pro football games on the satellite TV. Fore! Five! Seven! Ten!This is your chance to sneak away during the week to play 9-holes of golf with friends, thanks to the Village Club. Skill level is not important. "Fun" takes the front seat, with "constant attendance" residing in the "way-back". The Men's 9-hole Golf League tees it up every Monday night, May through August, with tee times ranging from 3:30-5:00pm. The League hosts all levels of players (shooting from 40 to 70) and is match/stroke play based on handicaps. It features team scrambles, a Calcutta, steak fries, and, perhaps most important of all, "let's go grab a burger and a beer" festivities afterward. The Women's 9-hole League plays every Wednesday, from May to mid-September at Flagg Creek. Tee times are from 4-4:30pm, and the league includes golfers of all skill levels, looking for an evening out with the "girls". Kids! Kids! Kids! The Village Club also prides itself on throwing a few family wing-dings too. Breakfast with Santa is probably the biggest event of the year, followed by the Fall Kick-off party and our TGIFs. Party Rentals Galore!Last but not least, another benefit of being a member of the Village Club is that you can rent the Club for private parties - birthdays, anniversaries, wedding receptions, you name it! Rent the main hall, the bowling alley, or both - it's up to you. n |
